In this engaging and informative lesson, students learn about the different ways in which Christians interpret the Bible, with a particular focus on the Ten Commandments. They learn through: -Recalling and remembering foundation contextual facts about the Bible; -Predicting, reading, interpreting and sequencing the Ten Commandments; -Analysing how different Christians may read the commandments, depending upon if they are fundamentalist or liberal; -Considering important rules and procedures that should be followed at school, to create their own 'School Commandments’; -Evaluating their School Commandments through thought-provoking reflection questions; This resource pack contains a comprehensive and colourful 16-slide Powerpoint, which guides teachers and students through the learning activities. Challenge activities are provided in order to enrich learning for higher-attaining learners. A template worksheet is also provided (in Word and PDF) for the students to scribe their school commandments. In the past, I have used this lesson with children from across Key Stage 2 - the key learning is aligned with national expectations for RE, and also the content prescribed by most diocese regions. In particular, students compare and contrast the sisters’ physical and emotional characteristics, and comprehend how each sister is implicated within the plot. This engaging and purposeful series of lessons enables children to gradually develop towards constructing vehicles using wheels and axles. The resources were originally created to guide children towards building safari buggies, but the resources can easily be adapted to fit your own particular project. This is the fourth lesson in the series, which focuses on making the body of the vehicle. Children: -Recall how wheel and axle mechanisms work; -Recall key terminology relating to wheel and axle mechanisms; -Understand how to use nets to create strong cube/ cuboid shapes; -Understand how to use a variety of materials to make windscreens/ spare wheels/ bumpers/ roofs; -Test and improve their vehicle. The resource is made up of a 13-slide PowerPoint presentation and the nets needed for the cube/ cuboid shapes. These lessons were originally created for children in years 2 and 3, but may be adapted for slightly older and younger year groups.

This purposeful and original collective worship session aims to inspire children to be aspirational, through: -Understanding what aspiration is and recognising why it is important; -Finding out about successful and inspirational people who have been aspirational, gone on inspiring journeys and reached their goals (examples include Ed Sheeran, Beth Mead and Malala Yousafzai); -Understanding what the Bible teaches about aspiration through engagement with relevant scripture; -Demonstrating the power of aspiration through a powerful video - followed by discussion questions; -Looking at their own lives and considering how they can apply aspiration strategies (e.g. setting SMART targets, etc.) -Ending with reflection, a prayer and a well-linked hymn. This worship session is tried and tested, and has always been really well received in the past. It is comprehensive (23 slides in total - there is enough material for a 30-40 minute session or two 20-minute sessions). The slides are visually engaging and well-presented, and the subject matter is tailored to the interests and needs of young people. No further resources are required - everything that you need to present the worship is included. The PowerPoint presentation is fairly self-explanatory, but I’ve included guidance notes to assist the speaker just in case. Hope that you find this useful!

This fun and original assembly aids children in understanding the value of being thankful for what they have in their lives, through: Understanding what thankfulness is, and recognising why it is important; Learning the importance of living life being thankful for what we do have, rather than being focusing too heavily on what we don’t have; Considering the positive aspects of their lives, and considering those less fortunate than themselves; Learning strategies to demonstrate thankfulness in their own lives. This assembly is tried and tested, and has always been really well received in the past. The slides are visually engaging and well-presented, and the subject matter is tailored to the interests and needs of young people. The session also includes an interesting story, which demonstrates how our outlook, morale and behaviour changes as we become more thankful. Furthermore, there is an internet link to a beautiful, thought-provoking video which demonstrates how far too often we spend time focused on what we don’t have, rather than the many ways in which we are fortunate. There are also various discussion prompts to enable children to understand how they can be thankful in different areas of their own lives. The slides are fairly self-explanatory, but I’ve included to pages of notes to assist the speaker. Hope that you find this useful!

This engaging and original anti-bullying week assembly is designed to be used in primary schools. It is both informative and thought-provoking and covers: -What bullying is; -Why we have anti-bullying week; -How we are all different and that difference is a good thing; -Why people bully others; -How bullying can be addressed/ tackled. The slides are visually-engaging and well-presented, and the subject matter is tailored to the interests and needs of young people. It includes links to well-chosen videos to emphasise/ reinforce key points, in addition to song suggestions for entrance and exit music. There is enough here for a 30 minute assembly (it is 20 slides long), but of course you can cut bits out/ tailor to your own individual needs. No further resources are required, everything that you need to present the assembly is included. This includes the resources needed for an interactive section of the assembly utilising volunteers (which highlights our similarities and differences). Hope that you find this useful!

This engaging and thought-provoking lesson resource aids students in developing a secure understanding of the chapters 26 to 29 of Roald Dahl’s ‘The Twits.’ The chapters covered in these lessons are ‘The Ravens Swoop Over’, ‘The Twits are Turned Upside Down’, ‘The Monkey Escape’, and ‘The Twits Get the Shrinks.’ The lessons are guided by a comprehensive and colourful PowerPoint presentation, and enables students to understand the text through: -Retrieving information; -Inferring and deducing hidden meanings; -Summarising the events in the text. The sessions include a range of retrieval, vocabulary, inference, explanation and deeper thinking activities. A clear, colourful and comprehensive PowerPoint presentation guides students through the learning. A storyboard template is also provided (in both Word and PDF) for the deeper-thinking summarising task. There’s a lot in the session (18 slides in total) so I would recommend breaking into two lessons. The lessons are most suitable for children in lower key stage 2, (they were originally made for children in year 3) but they could also be adapted for slightly older and younger year groups.
